Pinpoint launches new interface for Olshan Law
Database-driven CMS ties News, Attorney Blogs and RSS together

The website for New York law firm Olshan Grundman (www.olshanlaw.com) underwent major enhancements this fall. Pinpoint Design converted the News section to one driven by a SQL database, upgrading the administration console at the same time. Managed by Olshan's staff, the console allows for home page summaries that tie into the corresponding stories on the News pages, and to the profile of the attorneys mentioned. In addition, this information automatically populates an RSS feed that clients and others can subscribe to.

Some attorneys now also have their own weblog, linked from their profiles. The system ties everything together so all current information can be managed in a streamlined process. The system even identifies attorney's names as they appear in the text and automatically creates the correct link to their profile page on the fly.

New Eva Mendez ads for Calvin Klein Underwear

Calvin Klein Underwear asked Pinpoint to help create several Flash ads based on their in-store reel. In them, Eva Mendez debuts CKU's new line of lingerie entitled Seductive Comfort. These ads are running on Oprah.com and fashion-oriented sites.

Because the still photos from the shoot don't all have enough background image, Pinpoint created the additional satin-sheet textures in Photoshop to fill the sizes requested by the advertiser.

Church in Need website launches

The new website Pinpoint designed for Aid to the Church in Need (www.churchinneed.org), an international charity, launched successfully on September 29. Each year, ACN fulfills more than 5,000 projects in 145 countries through their spiritual and material aid programs. The site is powered by the Convio system, which allows the client the option of updating news stories and some site assets on their own. It also has an excellent donation module for collecting and tracking contributions. In the first week alone the online contributions nearly equaled the cost of developing the website!

Grogan Associates contracting for upgraded site

Plans are being drawn up to enhance the Grogan Associates site (www.groganassoc.com) to greatly expand the options for tenants, shareholders and board members of Grogan-managed buildings. Pinpoint developed this website and the sister site Grogan Homes (www.groganhomes.com) several years ago for its New York-based client.

The schematic calls for dynamic forms that connect with the particular managing agent or superintendent associated with each property. All tenants will have a login and the content will very according to their location and privilege level. This will reduce the number of calls to the management office and streamline the contact process for the apartment dwellers at the same time. Building maintenance announcements, financials, packages and other broker needs will be available via tiered-level access.

With over 5,000 tenants to serve, Grogan Associates will save a lot of time and money using Pinpoint Design's innovative solutions.

Creative Head at Pinpoint Design Studies Watercolor in Le Lot
Les Aquarelles en le Sud de France

Pinpoint's Design Director, Li-Chen Chang, spent two weeks in Rignac, France at a watercolor workshop headed by the talented Catherine Stock. In the farm country two hours north of Toulouse, an old stone barn has been restored into a studio, and classes of half a dozen artists are held in the summers. Li produced dozens of sketches and several works which she's very happy with.

"While my primary focus has always been graphic design and its electronic execution, being able to kick back and have the work flow directly from my hands is refreshing" says Chang. She brings the energy back into her print and interactive work in our studio, where all our clients benefit from it.

Flash Ads for Large and Small Publishers
Banners Tout Upcoming Barron's Conference

Long-time design colleague EPO Inc. asked us to help out with a dozen Flash banner ads for their client, Barron's. These advertisements in various sizes were spun off of a design motif they were using for Barron's, drawing attention to the upcoming "The Art of Successful Investing" Conference in October.

Another customer, a published author, needed a Flash page to showcase the books in his new fantasy series. An animated matrix of nine titles, the page requires an ability to add and update the jacket art.

As the author did not have the capability to modify the native Flash files, Pinpoint uses a script to pull them from another folder on the site and populate the illustration. When new covers are created, the author can now simply add them himself.

Pinpoint Updates Site and Email Marketing

Also on the boards are three e-newsletter templates for their communications with members and interested viewers.

Pinpoint Overhauls New IDSNY Site
Mean, Clean and Green Design Site Launches

Our long-time client Interior Design Solutions needed a fresh look to their site, but wanted to keep the budgets under control. We created a fast-access home page that delivers the supporting textual content upon mouse-over; clicking through will load the underlying pages with all of the showcase photography.

The end result is an easy-to-navigate presentation that delivers the goods up front in the clear and concise way.

Linked from the new site is the principal's Sustainable Design Blog, a custom-written application Pinpoint launched early this year.

Pinpoint Produces FSIs for Random House Continuity
Louis L'Amour Still Riding High with Consumers

Following up our conversion of the Random House Direct continuities, Pinpoint Design is creating a series of free-standing inserts for the Louis L'Amour book series. These will run in local Sunday papers both as stand-alone inserts and also as advertisements in various circulars.

The L'Amour brand does well in these markets, and the FSI vehicle is very cost-effective when compared to the higher-priced direct mail packages we've been designing for this client over the years.

IDS Green Weblog Goes Live
Sustainable Design Blog Discusses LEED Issues & Conservation

Pinpoint launches IDS Green, a blog dedicated to environmentally responsible interior design. A weblog component for long-time client Interior Design Solutions, this site allows Susan Aiello, IDS's principal, to share her knowledge about the industry. A LEED Accredited interior designer, Susan will be disseminating information about energy conservation, air quality, healthy environments, and other "green" issues facing us today.

The website allows updating of the blog's content through a php/mysql setup. While there are a number of blog services available, Pinpoint's custom solution allows a unique graphic design for the site while retaining the functionality of an updater.
